38 participants, including academics, parents and teachers, had the opportunity to learn more about how the project has been piloting and implementing in Canary Islands, as well as discussing the situation of inclusive education in their region. The event was attended by the Dean of Educational Sciences María Ángeles Perera Santana and a representation of the Deputy Minister of Education of the Canary Islands.

The ETTECEC training for preschool teachers was piloting in by 6 teachers and 14 children on the autism spectrum from the Canarian schools CEIP Arucas and CEIP La Higuerita. The main difficulties faced by the teachers were the high number of pupils per classroom, the lack of resources, and the resistance to implement new methodologies. At the end of the pilot, they provide positive feedback about the course despite they would like to have more face-to-face support. The introductory explanation about autism, the practical examples of daily-live in classrooms and the strategies to implement a routine with visuals and artistic activities were much appreciated.

At the end of the event, both parents and teachers had the opportunity to underline the reluctance of the Canarian schools to adopt an inclusive education model, in contrast to their peninsual neighbours, and applauded the initiative undertaken by Mi Hijo Y Yo by asking for a continuation of the project.
